Vaasa Energy Institute

A remarkable part of Finnish energy cluster operates in Vaasa region; in addition to the numerous regional industrial companies operating within the realm of energy, there also is diverse energy know-how of high quality in the local educational institutions. Vaasa Energy Institute (VEI) is a cooperation organisation to combine the know-how within the field of energy, and was founded in 2006 by the University of Vaasa Faculty of Business Studies, Faculty of Technology and Levón Institute together with the Vaasan ammattikorkeakoulu, University of Applied Sciences and Yrkeshögskolan Novia, University of Applied Sciences. VaasaEMG is one of the founding members of VEI and has continued to act as an active member of VEI. Merja Pakkanen is the board member representing VaasaEMG in VEI, while Teemu Närvä is the vice board member and the Publicity Manager of VEI.

The function of Vaasa Energy Institute is to offer energy research, consultancy and supplementary training services to energy actors at local, domestic and international levels. The know-how of the Energy Institute combines business and technical expertise in a unique manner. The objective of VEI is to establish its position as the most important cooperation partner in projects within the Energy Institute's area of expertise for local, domestic and international energy actors, and to be a desirable partner in projects at the EU level.
